As I struggle to use the net since I have an agnosingly crap ISP, I cannot imagine what Gareth Barry must be going through right now. Aston Villa’s darling to villain, then again back to somewhat darling..it seems his wish to join Liverpool has taken a turn for the worse as it was officially announced by the club on their website that he is not going to leave the club. The reason being? That Liverpool failed to make a bid before the time both parties had mutually agreed. If whispers coming out of England that Rafa Benitez was 15 minutes late in putting his bid through, it will be even more bitter for Gareth.
Everything seemed to have been heading the right direction, as reports were emerging that talks were on-going between Liverpool and Aston Villa, with Liverpool even sweetening the deal by throwing in Steven Finnan also along with the 18 million pounds, the price tag that Martin O’ Neil set for Barry and refused to budge one penny from. 15 minutes late? Come on ! It’s not August 31st! Aston Villa is scraping the deal for being 15 minutes late?! Its absurd. But I have got my own theory behind Aston Villa playing such hard-ball.. (more…)

Liverpool pretty much sealed fourth place in the league with the win as that man, Fernando Torres has scored again for Liverpool. The 20-plus million pounds striker has been in fine form and Liverpool’s recent revival, bar the Manchester United game, has been largely thanks to the former Madrid man. (more…)

I thought Arsenal for sure was not going to make the same mistake again and come out with all guns blazing against the always confused looking Middlesbrough team. By confused I mean Middlesbrough can beat a big team one day, and get beaten by everyone else for the next ten days. Its like their goals for the season are beat one big team and avoid relegation. Anyway with Arsenal they scored but it was pretty obvious they wouldn’t be able to hold on to it. They defended valiantly throughout but it must’ve been bitter they couldn’t stop Toure’s deflected header.
Manchester United had it a little easier but if it weren’t for the misfiring United players, the score would have been another 6-0 demolition. Indeed there were a lot of missed opportunities from Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs..it didn’t seem like it would their day..but Ronaldo YET AGAIN has won it for United and puts them back on top. (more…)

Manchester United recorded a narrow 1-0 win against Liverpool to keep them out of the top four and keep rivals Manchester City in. It wasn’t the result Rafael Benitez was hoping for after the much hyped meeting with his American bosses. Not the ‘Howdy’ he will be hoping for. There seemed to be a defender blocking every Liverpool effort. The victory was as dramatic as last season’s John O’Shea winner at the end of the match, but Carlos Tevez punished them at the end of the first half. Sir Alex Fergurson opted to protect the one goal lead in the end, bringing on Carrick and John O’Shea. He was certainly a happy man, especially this season after the whole Gabriel Heinze issue before the beginning of the season. Sven Goran Eriksson will be pleased with the result too as Manchester City remain in the top four for atleast a few more days.
Arsenal and Chelsea was a match, all about grit and determination from both teams. (more…)
