So maybe a week ago, new Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho declared he had too many defenders in his team. Now he must be eating those words as he seems to have only one fit defender in the team left, that also the man everyone thought will be leaving, Argentinian Nicolas Burdisso. Marco Matterrazzi got himself injured few days back, Ivan Cordoba and Walter Samuel have still not completely recovered from their long-term injuries from last season, Christian Chivu is still injured and I can’t seem to find out where in the world is the Columbian Nelson Rivas. As for the wingbacks, luckily for the Portugese Special One, Maxwell, Maicon and Javier Zanetti (who plays like a 25 yr old even though 34!) are all fit and ready to go, so no concerns there…hopefully! (more…)

As I struggle to use the net since I have an agnosingly crap ISP, I cannot imagine what Gareth Barry must be going through right now. Aston Villa’s darling to villain, then again back to somewhat darling..it seems his wish to join Liverpool has taken a turn for the worse as it was officially announced by the club on their website that he is not going to leave the club. The reason being? That Liverpool failed to make a bid before the time both parties had mutually agreed. If whispers coming out of England that Rafa Benitez was 15 minutes late in putting his bid through, it will be even more bitter for Gareth.

Everything seemed to have been heading the right direction, as reports were emerging that talks were on-going between Liverpool and Aston Villa, with Liverpool even sweetening the deal by throwing in Steven Finnan also along with the 18 million pounds, the price tag that Martin O’ Neil set for Barry and refused to budge one penny from. 15 minutes late? Come on ! It’s not August 31st! Aston Villa is scraping the deal for being 15 minutes late?! Its absurd. But I have got my own theory behind Aston Villa playing such hard-ball.. (more…)

The match between Parma and Juventus was cancelled today due to a tragic accident at a bus station when a bus carryin Juventus fans accidently ran over a Parma fan while reversing. Rumours were spreading that there was confrontation between the two fans and that bus ran over the Parma fan while making a run for it. But later it was confirmed from eyewitness reports it was indeed an accident. Nevertheless the match was cancelled just as a precaution incase violence did break out due to the rumours.

Liverpool pretty much sealed fourth place in the league with the win as that man, Fernando Torres has scored again for Liverpool. The 20-plus million pounds striker has been in fine form and Liverpool’s recent revival, bar the Manchester United game, has been largely thanks to the former Madrid man.

Spain won the closely encountered game with substitute striker David Villa scoring the winner in the mid second-half.

Both teams started with 5-man midfield with Fernando Torres playing the lone striker for Spain and Luca Toni for Italy. The rumours about Donadoni dropping the AC Milan pair of Gatusso and Ambrosini from the starting line-up proved true as both players have had been mediocre this season and was promply replaced by the in form Roma players Simone Perotta and Danielle De Rossi. Pirlo kept his place in the squad as his game has improved in the last few weeks with the other inform Roma player Alberto Aquilani on the bench. No doubt both teams possess the best two goalkeepers in the world at the moment and it was Buffon who had to make to good saves in the first half from Torres and a Cesc Fabregas shot. Bad news for Barcelona though as Carlos Puyol had to be removed from Spain and was replaced by Albiol of Valencia. (more…)

Brazil beat Sweden by a single goal, when teenage sensation Alexandre Pato came on fifteen minutes onto the second-half to score the winner. Second half Swedish substitute goalkeeper Shaaban had raced out of his line to clear the ball but unfortuantely for him he sent it straight at Pato who lifted it nicely into an open net. Lucky goal but every great player along with skill seems to have that extra bit of luck, doesn’t it? ‘The Duck’ Pato is showing all the promise to be one, and even though not the best debut but a goal is a goal, even better it being the winner.
